You're right about reading less, I suppose. However, I am currently reading The Fabric of the Cosmos by Brian Greene, which has taken months. Considering the subject matter (string theory) I cannot blame blogging for this.
Also, I just read the 5 People you meet in Heaven in 2 hours flat while ill. Also an exception to the rule. And if you need a book to make you cry, try that one.
