A friend from Croydon went to a pub in Derbyshire a year or so ago. "Pint and a half of bitter, please," he says.

The landlady pours them, and hands them to him. "That'll be £1.92, love."

"£1.92?! Are you sure?"

The landlady looks worried, and checks the price on her fingers. "Yes, £1.92. I'm sorry, we had to put the price up a few weeks ago."
