Vimes on Mars

K, at some point, I really must get around to actually watching an episode or three of Life On Mars, the whole 'no TV' thing is fine, but it does mean I can't just sit down and enjoy when it's on. Anyway, while this isn't as blatently funny as the last crossover fic I linked, it's still a damn fine idea and reasonably well done. His Grace Sir Samual gets hit by a stagecoach:

As the two watchmen handcuffed Roberts and the woman stuffed packets and cans back into her dropped shoping bag, gushing thanks, Vimes stared at the badge that had come so easily to his hand as he arrested the thief after throwing him to the ground.

So very cool. Anyway. At some point today, there might possibly just be a "what Mat's been up to this week" post (or three), because, well, I've been a bit busy, in a good way. Still no permanent paid employment, but life itself is good.

Yes indeed. Really must get around to buying myself a copy of Guards Guards!, appears I've either lost mine or never actually owned it, trying to reread a sequence is harder work when you haven't got book 1...

I've watched trailers I DL'd, read many reviews, and many people whose opinions I respect substantially rave about it; I nearly bought the DVDs in the post-Xmas sales just on the strength of friends recommendations, very rare I do that sort of thing, last time I did was Deadwood.

The trailer for the Camberwick Green pastiche I linked to (it's a few posts down on the LOM tag) is simply awesome. While I've given up on broadcast TV, watching DVDs and DLd stuff is something I'll never stop doing.

Basically, I love the idea, like what I've seen and friends love it; ergo, I plan to get hold of it at some point. When the cashflow improves...
