Point taken about CoverItLive being a Flash embed - my internet connection went down between 11pm and 2am, and I was unable to access what was happening on Lib Dem Voice either.
Fwiw, I think it worked a lot better than a traditional live-blog in the main post could've, where the content and comments are separated out. The disadvantage is that it becomes cliquey, as many of us know each other (either virtually or actually), so, yes, it becomes a chat-room.
But ultimately I don't think folk were relying on LDV to bring them the breaking news. We were all following it via Internet/TV/radio, and most of us will have had a number of sites open simultaneously. No point LDV trying to compete with the MSM on this one, so better to provide a service for 'our' community.
