Talking CCTV cameras and the chances of dumping this crap
In response to the stupid CCTV with recorded kids voices stunt that our Glorious Leaders are planning,
james_nicoll asks:
The Lib Dems haven't a snowballs chance in hell of winning the next General Election, what they have got is the chance to get 100+ seats and dictate a few basic terms to the coalition partner. More Liberalism, less Laws would be a good one to start with. 100+ seats in a hung parliament is what we have to work for anyway.
And yes, this would've been a comment, but LJ wouldn't let me post it, all I get is:Anyone else had a similar issue or is it just me?
It's not just me, and my comment there wouldn't go through but a comment I made at
davidnm's did. Go figure. From the number of open support requests, it's a site issue and they'll be on it. Whether they fix it is another thing...

Is there any hope that the Tories will be any better than Labour or that the LibDems can win enough seats to form a government?I tried to reply that the Tories would be better in that they'd be a bit less authoritarian, but less does not mean good, just less bad in this case, and I trust them not one jot.

But yeah, I suspect winding the camera opps up and getting them to set things off might become the sport of choice wherever they're introduced...

Or possibly just blind luck.

CJB, stop and search, hell Blair's modelled himself on Thatcher's presidential style of government.
I'm hoping for a hung parliament, with - hopefully - a Lib/Lab alliance and a push for PR.

They don't need to actually be liberal, but they are posturing as a lot more liberal than Blair, which admittedly isn't hard, but better than nothing.
And yes, hung Parliament with LibDems in an alliance with preferably a less insane Labour party would be a good thing. Or a ministry if all talents led by Ming.

Libertarian is worse, anarchism without the social conscience.

Seriously, I went through an "Alan Moore is a paranoid dirty old man," phase recently and felt all smug I'd managed to pull myself out of fangirlishness. Damn you, current events!

The tin hat brigade think we're a testbed for the stuff they couldn't get away with in the US without an Amendment, sometimes I wonder if they might possibly have a point.
No idea what you might have seen, could've been anything.

But then, the film version was specifically written as a satire on Blair so, y'know, it sort of makes sense.
Probably ought to get around to reading the comics at some point...
