Google overshadowed by rubbish, wank, Walkers crisps & some awards...

Substantially mixed bag this lot, some clearouts, most new from today. Let's start with the best shadow art I've ever seen, so very cool.

Now onto some Google Külness. Google Mars. It's like Google Maps, but on Mars! Really does bring into relief what KSTR meant when he talked about the great northern sea. After that, How to Make Gmail/Gcal Rock; I especially like the open a compose window in the sidebar bookmarklet, very handy.

autopope fanboying (again). Charlie has 15 minutes of fame (and a few more years to follow) with an article on the BBC technology website about the future of history and how we're only just leaving the Dark Ages. Follow up interview on BBC Radio Wales on the Adam Walton show, about half an hour in, it'll be on Listen again for the next 7 days from at some point later this evening, I caught all but the first minute or so.

Hmm, still lots of Doctor Who wank throughout fandom, so instead I bring you The Empty Goth, and a useful translation phrasebook for any Doctor Who forum (or in fact pretty much any BB ever, as I rarely go to Who forums and I recognise 9/10s of the idiocies). That last was via pretty much everyone already, but you never know. What do you mean what wank? judge_death has the full story. Sort of.

Last up, the Origins Awards, including a win for jonhodgson and Deadlands: Reloaded, which makes them double plus good. Which means I have to use a Fineas icon for this post in celebration, it's not like I'm short of them.

I miss Sainsburys quite a bit. And proper telly. They have hundreds of channels and there's nowt on half the time. And no cricket. Good coverage of Le Tour mind you, even got Phil Ligget and Paul Sherwin commenting.

Aye, it's weird, you don't think about little things, but crips flavours, the convenience of Sainsburys (there's one 20 minutes walk from me but I'm lazy) and similar.

But the more TV channels we get the less there appears to be worth watching, so much so I gave up. I suspect the latter is actually true, we just look back on some mystical glory days, but y'never know. You do get stuff like Heroes first, and I'm told that's actually quite good; I wouldn't know.

LOL I could bore you with the tale of my evening of bizarreness, involving broken legs, fandom wank, crisps with actual meat in, friends having deaths in the family, Ian being a twunt, and my house getting (possibly) broken into... But it all sounds a lot more traumatic than it actually is, so I won't.

Yeah, but they'd only worry, and I'm having a good time over at the BHF at the minute. The broken leg was neighbour's cat; the wank was at BHF, but now all seems to be mostly going away; the crisps with meat in are walkers sensations chicken flavour which have actual powdered chicken in. SOMEBODY seems to have infected me with vegetarianism to the extent that the thought of it made me feel ill. Friend with death in the family was James, and it wasn't an unexpected one; he's more worried about how Seamus (his son) will deal with it. Ian being a twunt was about the moeny thing again, and the house getting broken into was just odd. When we came back from sorting out the PDSA for the neighbour's cat the front door was open, and as I went to check upstairs somebody ran out from the cellar. Nothing appears to have been taken, though.

Infected you? I think not, you've just got used to it again. But yeah, crisps with actual chicken, I'll have to be careful about that given I always assume crisps are OK to eat.

Guessing they were planning on robbing, you disturbed them and they hid in the cellar quickly, but that is a bit weird. Ah well, nothing taken = OK.
