What if the supposed prequels actually do make sense and fit into the original Star Wars story? Keith Martin explains the plotholes. Well:

Although the Death Star plans need to get to Yavin as soon as possible, Obi-Wan needs to make one more diversion first. If the Empire knows that Leia is a Rebel leader, then they also know about her father and the whole Organa family may need immediate evacuation. Fortunately, before coming to Tattoine, R2 had already arranged transport, which is waiting at Mos Eisley, under the command of the Rebellion's other chief field agent and espionage asset. Chewbacca.

Seriously. I know I haven't watched II or III, but I did read the plots, and this actually makes sense.

A lot of that makes sense, especially about R2 (the sequel books, which are considered canon, pretty much confirm that R2 was holding back a lot of stuff from Luke).

However the thing about Chewie being the owner of the Falcon is rubbish. Han won it from Lando in a card game. Presumably Lando was rich enough, and Han & Chewie skilled enough engineers, to fit it out to its specs in ANH. The design [again this is somewhat retro-fitted from the later books] is a very common Corellian design, so the ship that landed in RotS could easily have been another ship.

Ugh, that was just like reading a conspiracy theory about how the US Gvmt arranged the destruction of the WTC buildings.

Seriously, SW doesnt make sense as a "saga" because Lucas didn't write it as one. They are two separate trilogies, at beast. Some of the worst continuity is between 4 and 5, trying to reconcile 3 and 4 is f-ing insane.

Well, yeah, but I don't somehow think the guy was serious. But.

Watching it as an adult, the detail of the plot of IV makes little sense anyway at least witht he above R2 being an all knowing god and Chewie doing the pre-negotiation makes a bit of sense...

Yeah, I've read pretty much all the sequels, but it does sort of hang together for Chewie to be letting Han think he owns the Falcon. Sort of.

I mean it obviously makes no sense given he wasn't given a major role afterwards, unless you treat Han as always being his front, but it's fun.
