Why we enjoy sharing stuff--I certainly think through and remember what I've read more if I've had to write one of these 'why you should click this' blurbs

Agree completely with Denise here, and her years of experience running communities (including times when she's made mistakes and learnt from them) should be something others can learn from. Comments very good as well.

The real news from this puff piece on idiots and a TV documentary is that one of these Torbay residents works in a comic book store. This implies there exists within Torbay an actual comic book store. Who knew? But, seriously, if they're trying to fight crime in Torquay and they're not finding any? They're not looking in the right places, maybe wehre I used to live would be a good place for them to start?

I agree with this post.

I've made some of the mistakes on this list. They really, really, do not help. "Cheer up" is possibly the worst thing to say to anyone who's down or upset about something you don't know about, even if they're not actually clinically depressed. If you genuinely want to help people with your statements, saying things that MAKE THINGS WORSE? Really not good.

Useful this, especially for those living with depression, or with people who have a form of depression. Also useful for EVERYONE to know, just in case you meet someone with it when they're down.

Attack the Block is, simply, a brilliant film that everywone should go see if they get the chance. It's now on release in the US. In Eight cinemas. Total. Cowboys & Aliens was the biggest film of last weekend, but is in 3750 cinemas. It got 10,000 viewers per screen, Block got 17,000. Attack The Block is having word-of-mouth slowbuild marketing in the US, a bit like what happened with 28 Days Later, but moreso. Seriously, USians? Ask your local movie theatre to get this film in. Go see it. Really. It cost about 5pence to make, but the mostly unknown cast is brilliant and the cheap-as-chips effects are still pretty good and do the job. I loved it, and want to see it again.

Not sure I'd want to live in a country where this sort of property destruction is legal for first offences, but...

Just as I say how I'd not want to be in Lond, at least visiting may become a lot less hassle in the future, free wifi for all, better wifi for subscribers? We're Virgin subscribers, that'd be grand. They may wholesale it to mobile networks as well, that'd be a massive boost and releive pressure on the 3G nets. Cool beans.

I am so glad I won't be living around London during this mess, even if the telly spectacle is good (which, y'know, I doubt), the experience of trying to get on with normal everyday life during it is going to be hell.
