No, he doesn't. That's a rhetorical device, and it's used well. He's saying that attacking a holiday (which, if you recall, I dislike) simply because you're single is pretty pointless, and that therefore you need to either accept other people can be happy.
I was never bothered by other people being happy or together, it was the commercialised bullshit that got to me.
It's just common courtesy to limit the public displays of affection
Ball. Why should I pretend I'm not as happy as I am? Be happy for those that are happy and look to make your side better, the holiday/enforced festivity side is grating, but people genuinely happy together and wanting to celebrate it? That's a good thing.
