Not in any way a surprise here, but crucially this year they appear to have takn on board criticism made last time (well, the guy who coded it read my post) and the issues appear to me to be a fair spread of party policies.

However, last time it biased in favour of the Lib Dems, and I got Lib Dem, which, y'know, I should; anyone from different parties wanting to critique it are welcome to post in the comments if they don'[t want to blog it themselves.

I came out at Green 67, Lib Dem 63, Labour 8, UKIP -8, Tory -28, which seems about right (I expected Green). I'd've expected Labour to be higher and the Lib Dems to be lower, though. And I'd've thought I'd be less likely to vote UKIP than Tory.

I was expecting Green and got Green, though only narrowly from Lib Dem.

The big problem with this sort of thing is that it doesn't factor in "how much do you trust these parties to do what they say they're going to do?" which is one of the most important criteria for me.

*g* Yes. Yes it is.

Although I am currently experiencing an uncomfortable level of appreciation for my local MP because he a) showed up to the DEBill vote and b) voted no. I'm not used to having warm fuzzy feelings for politicians, it's WRONG D:

May have to vote Labour so I can go back to having the proper level of contempt ... :P

I notice that almost everyone on my flist has got Green, apart from you and me, and I ended up with Labour just ahead of Green with LDs last behind the Tories and UKIP! I think we can safely state this is worthless.

Votematch is much nearer the mark, though hardly surprising as I found it on James's site!

I got 77 LD, 76 Green, 2 Lab, 1 UKIP and -18 Tory, though my problem with a lot of these quizzes is that there's always some questions I'd answer with 'it depends'. For instance, I think a 0% council tax raise is a good idea, but the policy they're linking it to is the stupid Tory proposal to impose it centrally which I don't support.

And the Greens always score highly with LDs and LD voters in these sort of quizzes because they never include questions on the crazier parts of Green policies - there's nothing in there about science and technology policies, for instance.

We don't have any party resembling Liberal Democrats here in NZ, but I guessed that's what I'd get going by the questions. And I can't imagine any Green voters being told to vote Green by this poll, since there were only a couple of Greenish questions. So I felt pretty manipulated by it.

Hi there - I'm Paul, the guy who writes the questions and weights for WSYVF - we have had a number of people mention the S&T piece about Greens - happy to look at this & would appreciate if anyone has steers on specific policy areas on this (tweet mentioning me, @sillage (NB not silage)) or WSVFY

Thanks

They're pretty sane here, thus they're the most consistently voted for third party of late. As in getting over the 5% required in our MMP system. See: 2008, 2005, 2002.

The other main third parties sometimes get over 5%, but sometimes haven't and have only got into parliament (or not) due to their leader winning (or not winning) a constituent seat. (Except in the case of the Maori Party, who have different rules to play under.) And the Greens were the only third party to get over 5% in the last election.

They'd be a good party for you to study, meaning in the way they've worked with the ruling party. Getting that relationship wrong can be devastating to third parties. As when things go wrong, they're the ones to attract the most blame.
