I thought Shatner instantly, and then Shakespeare about half a second later. I suspect that my reason for thinking that way was because when I read it, I sounded it with a short "a" in my head. I therefore did an autocomplete based on the sound, which gave me "Shatner" and only then started doing an autocomplete based on the letters (which gave me Shakespeare). So I suspect that this is as much a selection for visual or auditory information processing as much as (if not more than) it is a test for geekhood or otherwise.

Aaahaha, I didn't want to do it until I'd seen what they meant.

I didn't even think of Shakespeare.

What about Martin Clunes' character William Shawcross in the ITV drama William & Mary?

Seek even more help?

I thought Shatner first mainly because the last thing I saw on TV tonight saw that damned All Bran advert.

Also, I saw it as a short 'a' too.

"my elitist non-tv watching 30+ness beats you."

It's not quite MQ-able, as no one would understand, but it's good enough for my msn tagline.

Congrats!

Eh? I wasn't trying to get 'one up' by suggesting this rather obscure William Sha*. It was another name which began that way (although this was about 5 minutes after I thought of Shakespeare).

The 'non-TV watching' bit was slightly misleading as Shakespeare usually belongs to the printed page whereas Shatner usually belongs to television.

The funny thing is,for me, I didn't even think of Shatner until a bout 10 seconds later. I saw the quiz and thought "What, is this a test to see how many people know shakespeare's full name? How silly."

I hadn't grasped the interesting psychological undertones until I saw almost EVERYONE picking tner.
