Mat, having had a weird day in which he fell asleep multiple times when not supposed to, checks his LJ friends list. Everybody in the UK, it seems, is talking about the same damned thing. I agree with liadnan, where's the news?:

Obnoxious and ignorant woman famous solely for being obnoxious and ignorant on reality tv show is obnoxious and ignorant on reality tv show. This sentence really ought to be followed by "film at 11", not by "international furore and mild diplomatic spat follows", surely. What did anyone expect?

Jade, and family, are stupid, ignorant bigots. I could've told you that just from her damned media profile. Endemol are cashing in and looking forward to the eviction vote with greedy anticipation. No one is actually watching anyway (less viewers than the vegetable show on BBC2 according to Private Eye).

Even the main news blogs are at it. I expected Pickled Politics to cover it, it's sort of their remit, but Doctor Vee and Chris Dillow? No, just please, no.

Seriously, it's dull. Now the Guido/Tim Ireland Blog Brother spat? That's worth watching, handbags at dawn everyone...

If any good has come out of the incident involving Shilpa Shetty and the three ignorant chav scrubbers shouting abuse at her, it has at least shone something of a sidelight on what Gay Gordon thought would be a quiet trip to India so that he could brown-nose another £2 million for NuLab from Lakshmi Mittal.

True, he's not going to get a quiet trip, and that's a good thing, but then he'll probably shrug it all off anyway, like he usually does. They call Tony Teflon, but it's Gordon that seems to have weathered the whole NuLab thing better.

I'll be watching the eviction later tonight to see just how Jade defends herself. I can't imagine Shilpa will be evicted this week.

I haven't watched any of Big Brother since the first series, but honestly, even with 'celebrities' do they really expect a reality tv show containing someone who's solely famous for being stupid and rude not to include bullying and racism all over?

In real news, London Bridge station was sealed off last night. We suspected foul play, and still do because of the huge area they sealed off. Statement from police this morning claims that the skylights were being blown out due to high winds and they wanted to ensure customer safety. I suspect ninjas.

If the asian actress were white, they'd have had to think about insults a bit more I suspect, as it is they've picked on her colour and culture rather than the fact that she's a bit better educated and aware than they'll ever be.

Yep, they are pretty much just picking on her because she is genuinely attractive, genuinely nice and has some actual talent.

I have to say I don't think there is any racial motive but their horribly stunted intellects are unable to even comprehend why they dislike her so much.

It rather blows away that old adage 'ignorance is bliss', perhaps the goody family are bathing in their ignorance inspired bliss. Unfortunately everyone else, even those of us who have never watched a single big brother progamme have to put up with such ignoramuses (ingorami?), and that certinly is not bliss.
Still its easier than contemplating climate change which is truly scary.
