Election night time...
2007-May-03, Thursday 22:41Well, it's Scottish Palriament elections, and non-London local elections. As the Scots are using my favourite voting system for the locals (first time used in mainland Briatin that I know of), I may be staying up late. I may also post reactions and stuff as they come. Or I may just comment elsewhere.
doctorvee will be liveblogging at his site and on his Twitter, and there are already a few reaction posts on my friends page. However,
rythmaning has almost certainly the best election poster ever:

I don't think I am ever going to have a tidy tags list.

Date: 2007-May-03, Thursday 22:00 (UTC)So, MMP?
Apparently not, because then it goes on to say: "A new system where voters select candidates in order of preference will be used to determine who sits on local councils."
So STV?
What is going on here? From the rest of the article, I gather it's STV, but what's that whole bit about regional lists? Good grief, I study this stuff and their explanation makes no sense. How do they expect the public to get it?

Date: 2007-May-03, Thursday 22:04 (UTC)But yeah, the Scottish Parliament uses MMP, but the local elections (city and below) is using STV, which is what I referred to. Probably should've made that a bit clearer.
I hate MMP, but that's because I tend to dislike parties and it tends to entrench them, which is also why I like STV a lot.

Date: 2007-May-04, Friday 07:27 (UTC)I can't get to the eh site to look up the actual numbers, it's pretty much what I was expecting, but I want to see if it's standard Torbay "every seat's a marginal" or if it's actually a bad result percentage wise as well as seats.
