Someone explain to me why the ticket desk sold me 'not Reading' tickets to go to Paignton? I don't think that's POSSIBLE.

Maybe you're not allowed a book?
(Ba-dum tish.)

I suppose you could do something like: Kings Cross, Grantham, Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol, Paignton... :)

That was what I was thinking.

Hell, I've gone from Chester to Birmingham via Crewe with Virgin, so anything is possible...

I bloody hate trains :-(

The National Routeing Guide (http://www.ljtop.com/the_fear_213078436.html) is the inevitable end-point to this train (arf!) of thought. And that way, madness lies...

Reminds me of the LRT bus ticket I used to get quite regularly in Edinburgh: "Beyond Mornings", it had on it. I always meant to send one to Mike Rohan.

The ticket would take you from North Edinburgh to beyond Morningside - the Mike Rohan reference was to "Chase the Morning" (itself a JE Flecker quote)

Quite easily - even via London, Waterloo->Paignton will cut out Reading entirely. I'm fairly sure Virgin X-Country will go via B'ham New Street to Paignton via Bristol.

There are 3 or 4 direct trains from London Waterloo to Paignton via Basingstoke, Salisbury, Yeovil and Exeter

Most of the others its a same platform change at Exeter.

Its cheaper because it's about 30mins to an hour slower.
