{BSG} The Last Supper

All of this has happened before...

...all of this will happen again. The Scott King film blog has a promotional pic and explanation for the next (final) season of Battlestar Galactica which also has a much bigger version of the pic, both from Entertainment Weekly. The pic itself has some minor spoiler info that you'd need to work hard to figure out, but the attached scan of the annotations has some pretty major stuff. There is, for example, a new Six leading a rebel Cylon faction, Apollo doesn't return to flight status, Baltar's Six steps up her proselytising about the One True God and perhaps most importantly only three of the Final Five are in the picture, meaning that the last Cylon is neither Starbuck nor Baltar.

I'd be impressed if they really thought about this pic (and the analogies to the Last Supper incl. superimposting mirror images) that much.

So, if the final Cylon isn't in the photo, are we missing anyone important? It doesn't look that way (I might be blind) meaning that the final one could be someone we have not yet met.

I do wish we still got something equivalent to Entertainment Weekly over here. Early Heat was great.

I liked Razor but the box back blurb "contains chilling clues to the fate of humanity" was um, unsettling. As long as "all this has happened before" doesn't mean "in at least three episodes of Doctor Who", I'll be happy.

Aye, I used to like Heat when I stole it from colleagues but then it just went downhill fast. I guess we have the TV mags and similar, but it's not the same thing.

But, y'know, nothing wrong with ripping off old Who as long as they don't deny it.

So Baltar's not the remaining Cylon, then? Interesting; that's what it had seemed to be leading up to. I wonder who. I'd be tempted to suggest Laura, but that seems a bit 'obvious', really. (And I guess the picture doesn't support it as an idea either.) I can't really think of anyone else that it might be, so that's going to be a surprise.

And Baltar's Six stepping up her proselytisation - is that the one in his head or the one in the brig? (If the former then owwww ... he's going to have a right headache!)

It looks like it's the one in his head but I'm only interpreting their interpretation so, y'know, could be anything.

But no, looks like noe of the obvious candidates are the last one (and that one of the known last ones isn't there), so could be anyone. There are a number of other not-quite-lead characters that it could be, we'll see I guess.

This level of obsession in BSG fandom is awesome. I suspect that the fans are taking this way beyond what the creators of the original image intended. But it's still cool.

Almost certainly, but we'll have to see whether they're still right or not, wouldn't be the first time speculation based on random coincidence was either right anyway or picked up and added to the ark.

I think the obsession is a link between SF geekery, telly fandom and politics geeks, the show appeals to many more than you normally get so you've a nice fusion of different interests bouncing off each other.

apparently the last cylon is a character we have already met. my bet is on either Dualla or Zarek

As for the cylons in the new series ive heard that several of the main models are killed off mid way through the run, by.......

also there are some interesting theroy's about what the hybrid was saying when starbuck and co went on the rescue mission inside the basestar (in the last 20 mins or so of Razor)

1) This means I will hit bloggers block and only talk dull life stuff for weeks, based on previous experiences.

2) Agreed, and the other two posts were cool—I don't tend to follow fan comms as much as I'd like to, but there's always someone about that does.

3) Seen it already (that last sentence in my post is a bit vague, oops), and yes, there are—once you've seen it, the BSGcast link above is worth a watch, if only for the transcript of the ending.
