Last of the Time Lords—what did you think?
2007-Jul-01, Sunday 15:58OK then, watched it twice now and, um, yes. Ok then. Ah, can't be arsed to write a full review, many many of them around all over the place; an excellent discussion worth reading over at
diggerdydum. So, without further fanfare, I present:
[Poll #1013462]
Yeah, well. Still, Titanic for the next episode. No Martha though, although she's supposedly going to be back. And Jack will hopefully be over the emo wangsting for the next series of Torchwood, so it might actually be worth watching? Stranger things have happened.
Oh, gratuitous icon pluggage; this one made by
mapp, and I really like it.

Date: 2007-Jul-01, Sunday 18:54 (UTC)The reset switch was a little predictable, but in keeping with Dr Who, not sure they could really have done anything better!
Sad to think we'll never see the master again (as if!) particularly the way that John Simm played him... who next to have survived? The Rani? The meddlesome Monk? Sagacitity? Maybe even Rassilon or Omega!!!

Date: 2007-Jul-01, Sunday 19:13 (UTC)But, um, no Master again? The ring+laughter at the end didn't drop any hints there? Sure, probably not Simm back, but the Master may have got through.

Date: 2007-Jul-01, Sunday 19:40 (UTC)think I only caught most of Daleks in manhatten & Lazarus... caught litle bits here and there - some weird thing where Dr was a teacher in an English school pre war, with no aparent knowledge of who he was...

Date: 2007-Jul-01, Sunday 20:10 (UTC)Randomly, the above results are fairly closely mirroring my own thoughts; I didn't like Daleks or Lazarus much (fun, but not good), which seems to be a consensus.
The one with him as school teacher is actually two; Human Nature & Family of Blood, possibly the best two-parter of all of new Who, and only beaten by Blink this season, definitely worth a watch.

Date: 2007-Jul-02, Monday 06:34 (UTC)And having him on the same screen as Harkness and SimmMaster was just overload. Get a room guys! No wonder Martha walked.
For this series anyway, multi-part episodes = over-the-top camp nonsense. With overall "worst moment EVAR" award going to the "with one bound he was free" link between Utopia and The Sound of Drums.

Agree on the cliffhanger resolution, it was a little too obvious and easily done, would've been nice if we'd seen them in a bit of danger I think. And I also suspect thy'll have needed to hop a few times, which wasn't covered. Ah well, this one was better than last year, so there's hope it'll continue improving.
