Microblogging by SMS, it's all the rage donchaknow. Using LoudTwitter and Twitter.

Gah, it's supposed to not cross post the @whoever stuff. Twitter: I can post to it by SMS from anywhere, or using the web interface. It's mini-posts, very similar to Facebook status updates, and you can reply to each other and similar.

It's not bad. I have a Facebook app that transfers stuff to my Status almost immediately, and LoudTwitter posts everything here nightly (I used to use sms_to_lj but a daily post is less spammy and I get 300 free texts a month).

It might make more sense to look at the with friends stuff, which is essentially a friends page (it is in fact very similar to LJ but posts are limited to 160 characters):
