Aye, Paul worries (below) that it might be mocking, I don't think it is, but the subject matter has to be done carefully.

I tend to look at things from a slight abstraction, and there's not doubt that this sort of thing will bring the originals to the attention of some that hadn't seen them (the vietnam one I don't think I'd actually seen for example).

The bag's in the wrong hand on the Tianemen Square setup - seems like a poor mistake to make considering the level of accuracy elsewhere.

I don't really know what to think. Are we not mocking these events by recreating them in lego, resplendant in smiling faces and home-made tanks?
Or is that the point, that they're over and we can reflect on them in different ways? Whatever, they're pretty cool.

I don't think it's intentionally mocking, although I've no doubt some will find it that way, I think it's just a different medium to get a message across, and mostly well done. You're right about the bag in the wrong had, a fairly simple mistake to have avoided given the effort.
