What, exactly, is Dreamwidth?

It's a fork of the LJ code. Because the original bits of LJ are open source, they can take that and add stuff to it.

Importantly, it's run by former staffers, and has taken on some of the guys that got fired at the beginning of the month as well. rho, azurelunatic and foxfirefey are also involved on the volunteer level, which is an extra bonus.
