  I spent less than 48 hours in Florence as I wanted to get to Sienna. I've been wanting to go back for ages as it's, simply, a beautiful city. Someone linked to this and I started laughing. And learning things, then laughing more. Can't pick a single entry, just, y'know, go have a look.

  Pretty much agree with this-the reason Vimes is an interesting and cool character is because he's Not Perfect. He makes mistakes, he messes things up, he tries to fix them and sometimes he fails. This is good.

  Ooh, interesting. Haven't read the whole judgement but the exerpts from El Reg are, well, nice. And Unclean Hands is an excellent, if risky, defense. They've got some very good points there, can't claim competetive infrigement while at the same time shutting down profiles of people who admit using the site for sex. Not sure about Shagbook itself though, they're using an IP geolocate to put me in Dewsbury, close but no cigar, but they've put a bunch of people "near" Dewsbury that I might like. Including a bloke in Devon. Devon definitely not close to Dewsbury, if it were I'd walk to me Mum's for tea...

  Celebrating his 20,000th Twitter follower, @Scalzi writes a short story with every sentence less than 140 characters. It's short, it's funny and worth a read.

Ah, that's a shame, might be a crash, it's getting linked to a fair bit afte rI picked it up.

And yeah, need to insert the apostrophe as an HTML entity but I can't be arsed to look up the code, can't just type it as it'll close the PHP command.

Visits to the Schnieder's Bakery-verse rarely end well, but gosh darn it to heck. In Nickelodeon's fictional world of PearPads and other product displacement, the social networking site is SplashFace. Close enough to its current real-world rival, but also close enough to its immediate predecessor. Next year, of course, the iCarly crew try to get on new rival GetFace+, until one of them is turfed off for breaking their "credible fictional names" policy. Who would call their child Fredward?!

As for an apostrophe, the HTML code is & x 0027; (without the spaces), though the Unicode organisation prefers & x 2019; for English-language writing.

Heh, you as always are a lot more sell versed in pop culture references than me, not really aware of that background at all.

(and for some reason the apostrophe's don't show up when edited in, I'm guessing something in the encoding, I shall try a test post later when I'm not half asleep)
