Got a message from my mother as I was parking the car ten minutes ago.

Jack Alexander has arrived, 7lb 9oz (why are babies always in measures I barely understand?). Am off to see my little sister in a few minutes.

Mat - a bit over half a stone. That better?

It's cause most people still measure themselves in Imperial, irregardless of whether they use metric or imperial for other stuff, but when talking about babies it's in pounds and ounces rather than stones, which makes it the end of the scale that most people don't use much any more.

Half a stone I still get confused by; I can convert it, and having held him it matters not, it's just that I don't relate to imperial measures at all, I know what a Kilo is, I know how it's calcuklated, I can feel the weight if I think about it, stones, pounds and ounces confuse me utterly.

now you have to come up with some games or jokes that will be trademark uncle things -- i remember my uncle used to be able to hide like no one i'd ever known before in hide-n-seek (i actually think he just followed behind me, just out of sight, while i was looking for him) and he also used to do this hand game where you'd lay your hands on top of his and he'd try to catch yours before you could move. silly things like that.
