Emma Watson signals desire to get tattoo...

So, Emma "Hermione" Watson has had a rather drastic haircut. So far, so "girl gets haircut", and while she does look rather pretty with it, who cares? Quoth bart_calender:

1. In London they are currently trying to cast the role of Lizbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

2. Emma Watson suddenly releases this picture of her "new look" to the media.

3. All of the stories about it somehow work in that she's finished shooting the last Harry Potter movie and is now out of her exclusive contract.

Coincidence?

Now, I've not, yet, read any of Larsson's books, but that picture does look ramarkably similar, n'est ce pas? While I was writing this, it appears MTV think along the same lines, although not quite sure she's ready to do an Aliens franchise reboot, what do we think?

I have a girl crush on her.

The haircut is almost certainly a "OMG YAY NO MORE HARRY POTTER!" haircut. Good for her for doing more acting.

Oh, yeah, I've no doubt she genuinely wanted a change of look and similar, being tied to the same appearance for a whole decade'd annoy me.

But that specific style, and that pose in the photo? Bit much.

Well, for all you know, the girl on the cover of the book has no hair. Sure, there's something of a similarity, but I doubt it was what the photographer had in mind to emulate.

The girl in that photo may or may not have any hair at all. But the character she's representing on the cover of a book about her is, apparently, described as having a haircut very similar to the one Miss Watson is now sporting.

I have no proof, obviously, but given it's the only photo released, she's just out of contract and there's a major new franchise for a bestselling series of books being cast and she'd be good for that role, it's not too far to reach that it's deliberate, is it?

Thank you for this post. Since none of the mainstream media has picked up on how much her publicity photo looks like the cover of The Girl With The Hornet's Nest, I was begining to feel like I was paranoid/seeing connections that are not there.

But, as soon as I saw her photo my first thought was "Ok, her people are trying to position her to play Lizbeth" - because they went out of their way to release a photo that looks so much like the book cover.

It wasn't until I read the comments on yours and went to look up the cover that I really saw it, but there's no way that's anything other than intentional.

But, I'm guessing journos won't see the link because it's not being spelled out and unless you've read the books and have a good visual memory it might not click at all. And a lot of journos these days, especially on the celeb side, are time short and churnalism is a job requirement, they're not being paid to think things through, just fill the page :-(

It might make it more effective that the media didn't pick up on it - it could make the casting director think he's a genius when he thinks of it.
