Cooking on gas...

Seriously, I'd forgotten just how much better a decent gas hob is over traditional electric plates. With my pile of stuff collected over the weekend, I finally grabbed the omelette pan, and have just had my own, self cooked, and damn nice omelette. With a side of halloumi.

So good...

I don't want to go back to an electric hob again, ever. Well, actually, one of those modern expensive glowing things would probably be ok, but I likes me my gas I does.

Anyway. Was supposed to spend morning unpacking and sorting, the afternoon trawling employment agencies, again, and then go into Cowley St. I have in fact spent the morning reading and feeling awful, the afternoon catching up online and pratting around, have finally had lunch + coffee, and will now get myself together to go into town.

Organised? Me? Whatever gave you that idea. Really ought to get around to unpacking the rest of the car, it's got the best part of my CD collection in it, and I want to rip more of it onto the walkman.

That's probably the term I'm looking for. My aunt had one when I was a kid, so they're not that new, but the places I've rented over the last ten years have never seen them.

They look to be good, but they're still not gas.

I agree, gas hobs rule. Having to put up with an electric hot plate hob is one of many niggling little reasons that I wish I'd had a closer inspection of our current place before signing the lease (instead of going "Ooh! huuuuuge living room! Ooh! huuuuuge bedroom!" and rolling over and playing nice for the estate agent).

Possible to replace it yourself anyway? If you're planning to stay medium term it'd make life better for you and landlord may be happy as it's an improvement he isn't paying for.

Even one of the Halogen things would be better than old style crappy hobs I'd have thought.

No, it's one of those built-in-to-the-counter-top jobs, and besides replacing electric with gas? I don't even know if there's gas in the kitchen, after all the oven is electric.

Yes, it's gas all the way for me. Unfortunately, when we tried to turn the gas on at my mother's new house, we discovered that there is a leak in the gas pipe somewhere, so we're cooking with a hotplate until that gets fixed. Bah!

I think gas hobs win hands down as well, even on an old gunked up cooker like ours. I'd have an electric oven though, as they tend to be more economical.

There's a pita takeaway in Reading that does a gorgeous halloumi pita, try to get one whenever I'm there, 'tis great.

That I've heard. Apparently his wife is currently having an affair with the Torch. Who I thought was her brother, but maybe they've changed reality again.

I thought the Torch was her brother too... Plainly I am out of touch. Although I was always more a DC girl than Marvel anyway.

Never got into DC. I think it was partially Transformers was Marvel, and partially that the comics at the local shop were all Marvel at first; I preferred stuff being set in places I recognised directly, not places that were a bit like them but not.

Ah, well, it was Batman for me. That Batman cartoon where all the men were triangular was on when I was just of an age to move up from the Beano and Dandy. And also, obviously, being British and sci-fi orientated, I got into 2000AD, and there were Batman/Judge Dredd crossovers.

Judgement on Gotham with Simon Bisley's fully painted art... Guh. God, that's a sexy comic.

Somehow, I missed 2000AD until I moved to Manchester, since then I've bought mostly every one, no idea how I missed it when younger, weird. Dredd was this thing in the Daily Star, which We Do Not Like.

Pretty sure I've read the Bisley one though, and Batman was always cool even if the background was nuts.
