Wasted weekend and crappy DVD manufacturers
2005-May-22, Sunday 21:47Well, combining the insomnia, the "burglary" and the apathy has meant I've acheived nothing this weekend except "rest". Not even tidied up, which had been the main plan for today. Ah well.
Did, however, watch the DVDs which arrived Friday morning. Doctor Who disc one is excellent, glad I ordered it, and I can see why people are talking about how great it is, I've even begun to like Billie/Rose. Also, the DVD is itself well put together.
Angel series 5? Good, as expected, amusing, well produced, mostly funny; I especially like the episode where Spike and Angel go to Rome, no idea who "The Immortal" is but, well, funny.
However, what is it with crappy DVD manufacturers that have over the top interactive menues and annoyingly long intros? I had the same issue with Dark Angel as well. Doctor Who, I can just put in the disk and press play. This is good. Angel insists that I wait for a copyright warning to finish on every DVD (I bought it, I paid for it, and I don't copy stuff, stop telling me what I already agree with FFS), but also insists I both select each episode and then confirm I want to watch it and not a 'special feature'.
Given how crappy my TV resolution is, negotiating menues I can't read clearly is tricky. I want to just hit play, the way I can with B5, Crusade, and, IIRC, Firefly. But with Angel I have to go through 2 separate menues and watch a crappy intro between each one.
Stupid. Ah well; back to work tomorrow, not that I'll sleep tonight. I suspect more re-watching is coming on.
