More Firefox plugins, in meme form

How have you customised your Firefox? Which add-ons have you used, how have you altered them, and what couldn't you do without?

So I thought I'd do a follow up to my firefox extensions post and list all those not listed there by me that I'm currently losing. A fair few of these (especially Colorzilla and Submit to Tab) are great little tricks that you guys told me about int he comments, others I've just added as I go along. I now have FAR TOO MANY extensions, and am likely to dump some, and split others off into a separate profile full of development tools and not use them for geeral browsing. And, unfortunately, LJ Login clashes with deepestsender currently, so given I rarely if ever use my other accounts I have it disabled.

True, and I think all the people on your friends lst that would benefit are also on mine and hers. Copy link text can be a lifesaver at times as well, for example, right click on an LJ username, their name is then in your clipboard, no highlighting required.

Not being a Firefox user (gasp!), I find it interesting to see what add-ons people are using, and how many of them are standard things in Opera. There's some in there that I'd like to see Opera use (the ScreenGrab one, for instance), but for the most part I look at the lists and go "...this is why I use Opera!"

The Opera Widgets are, sadly, for the most part quite poor.

Like I said in my first post, Opera is great out of the box, Fx is more flexible medium term. Ultimately, Fx, with effort, can do everything Opera does (as a browser) and more, but it takes the effort, hence these posts.

Alternately, there are some things Opera does that are unneeded, and arguably could create bloat. Except I know Opera is both a smaller filesize and footprint, so that's a non-argument currently.

But I have no problem with Opera users, it's the weird ones that prefer IE that bother me...

If only there was a way to have Opera add-ons. The widgets are just a joke, which is a shame, but I'd jump for joy if there was a was something like Firefox add-ons for Opera. Opera does have some nice tricks up it's sleeves that can be customised (searches from the address bar, with different prefixes for different search engines is handy - i've got a few sites that I search often, and it's nice to be able to go "x monkey on sloth action" instead of having to type out the address of the website....), but it's not a patch on Firefox for that.

Roll on the browser that combines the innate niftiness of Opera, the ability to customise of Firefox, the filesize of Lynx and whatever the heck it is that Internet Explorer has.

Re the customised searches thing? Fx has that, I rarely use them, but they are there. typing google XYZ will google XYZ for you, and you can programme more - I have LJ user and LJ userpics as to quick shortcuts, not what it's designed for but useful.

Mouse Gestures? Because you could create gestures for a lot of the little things you have here, as well as better general browsing capability.

Just a thought...

I worry about the idea of gestures, because they'd be a bit like macros on functions I use a lot; fine on this PC, but I'd be dead if I moved PC, or used another one regularly.

Plus, I'm a clumsy oaf anyway. I currently regularly browse via four different PCs, if anything that'll go up rather than down, and some of them are occasional/never uses. So I'll stick to not using them, I think.
