Date: 2007-Dec-26, Wednesday 13:51 (UTC)While I was a fairly constant watcher (such as I could be, with Who airing only on Public Broadcasting here Stateside) through the Tom Baker era - and for a short while in the Doctor immediately following - there was still tons I didn't know. Your little picture brought it back to me.
Forget the Daleks, which were the most intimidating of enemies to me; the Cybermen are much visceral to me, now, following those recent episodes (to the U.S., anyway) which showed their actual creation ... out of humans. I.e. you-and-me. I had never known that before.
It's possible to be a bit remote with Daleks, because although humanoid in origin they're still alien. It strikes much closer to home when an actual human is rolled in one end of La Machine and a Cyberman comes out the other ...
Just me, I guess.
