Oh OK then, I was going to do this when I first saw it, but I finally got my round tuit supply in.
Rules:
+ Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
+ Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
+ Post them here for everyone to guess.
+ Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
+ NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

  1. I always gagged on the silver spoon. Citizen Kane, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] thepunkprincess

  2. Half of writing history is hiding the truth. Serenity, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] yuxonomei. It was deliberately more obscure given virtually all of you have seen it.

  3. I'm the head Frog here. The Lost Boys, finally guessed by [livejournal.com profile] draich_goch

  4. A man who no more knows his destiny than a tea leaf knows the history of the East India company. The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, [livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe, [livejournal.com profile] andrewducker, [livejournal.com profile] mooism & [livejournal.com profile] thapunkprincess. And not any of the PoTC films, although they may have used the quote?

  5. Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away? [livejournal.com profile] ninebelow & [livejournal.com profile] eldar,

  6. I remember how the meaning of words began to change. How unfamiliar words like "collateral" and "rendition" became frightening, while things like Norsefire and the Articles of Allegiance became powerful. I remember how "different" became dangerous. I still don't understand it, why they hate us so much. [livejournal.com profile] feels_like_this, [livejournal.com profile] getawaywithit, [livejournal.com profile] andrewducker & [livejournal.com profile] thapunkprincess

  7. Her: I'll be back. The Empire Strikes Back, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] baseballchica03. Yes, this was a trick question, and no, Terminator 3 does not appear on my list of favourite movies.

  8. XXX: What is your nationality?
    YYY: I'm a drunkard.
XXX: That makes YYY a citizen of the world.
Casablanca, finally got by [livejournal.com profile] getawaywithit

  9. Disneyland. Fuck, man, this is better than Disneyland. Apocalypse Now, [livejournal.com profile] thapunkprincess

  10. I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do. 2001: A Space Odyssey, by [livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe & [livejournal.com profile] paulatpingu

  11. Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room. Dr. Strangelove (the obvious one) [livejournal.com profile] wieselkind, [livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe, [livejournal.com profile] paulatpingu, [livejournal.com profile] getawaywithit, [livejournal.com profile] ninebelow, [livejournal.com profile] strangefrontier, [livejournal.com profile] andrewducker, [livejournal.com profile] eldar, [livejournal.com profile] mooism & [livejournal.com profile] thapunkprincess

  12. Enjoying that are you my darlin'? Bit cold and pointless isn't it my lovely? What's happened to yours my little sister? A Clockwork Orange, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] yuxonomei, [livejournal.com profile] draich_goch & [livejournal.com profile] two_brains

  13. There's more to life than a little money, ya know. Don'tcha know that? And here ya are. And it's a beautiful day. Well. I just don't understand it. Fargo, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] baseballchica03, although [livejournal.com profile] draich_goch knew the answer but couldn't name it.

  14. If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions. Pulp Fiction, by [livejournal.com profile] draich_goch

  15. So God was creating man. And his little assistant came up to him and he said: "Hey, we've got all these bodies left, but we're right out of brains, we're right out of hearts and we're right out of vocal chords." And God said: "Fuck it! Sew 'em up anyway. Smack smiles on the faces and make them talk out of their arses." And lo, God created the Tory Party. Brassed Off, both [livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe & [livejournal.com profile] thapunkprincess
There's at least one trick question, a few sillynesses, and one so obvious that I expect you all to get it.

In a little twist, comments screened, you have between now and whenever I get bored to answer as many as you can, points awarded for bragging rights, etc...

ETA: Results so far...
[livejournal.com profile] thapunkprincess: 5 points
[livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe: 4 points
[livejournal.com profile] draich_goch: 3.5 points for half getting Fargo
[livejournal.com profile] andrewducker: 3 points
[livejournal.com profile] ninebelow: 3 points
[livejournal.com profile] getawaywithit: 3 points
[livejournal.com profile] baseballchica03: 2 points, plus one for getting the trick question without hints
[livejournal.com profile] paulatpingu: 2 points, and he missed the obvious one, despite being the person that introduced it to me. Mea Culpa, he thought it too obvious to even say, which is fair.
[livejournal.com profile] eldar: 2 points
[livejournal.com profile] mooism: 2 points
[livejournal.com profile] yuxonomei: 2 points
[livejournal.com profile] strangefrontier: 1 point
[livejournal.com profile] feels_like_this: 1 point
[livejournal.com profile] wieselkind: 1 point
[livejournal.com profile] two_brains: 1 points
[livejournal.com profile] freddiefraggles: 0 points (ouch)
ETA 2: Comments still going to be screened, answered ones (and therefore some hints) are unscreened. And no, 7 has nothing to do with any Terminator movie.
ETA 3: All done after I dropped a few hints.

I recognise number 4, but can't think where from, and so the 'East India Company' bit made me think of POTC for some reason. I think it just goes to show how hard it is to recognise some of these out of context - there'll be a lot of 'Oh, of course!' when the answers arrive, I'm sure.

I actually looked it up last night, because it was going to bug me all night if I didn't.

And wild stab in the dark, is 12 from Secrets & Lies?
