What Jennie said:

The Yorksher Gob - How common are earthquakes in Yorkshire?:
I merely ask because our entire house just shook, windows rattling, bed shaking, everything...

Mat went and looked out the window and David (neighbour across the street and a few doors down) was just coming out of his front door and they felt it over there too.

I really hope it /was/ an Earthquake. The other option is too awful to contemplate.
Um, apparently it's been felt in Cambridge?

ETA: Not Yorkshire, but just down the road outside Lincoln. [livejournal.com profile] strmrgn, you and the guys OK?

Felt in Cambridge, yes. There was a similar one about 5 or 6 years ago, as I recall.

I can't remember the 2002 one and I didn't write about it in LJ so it probably wasn't that strong or I missed it for whatever reason...

It's been felt in Birmingham. I thought it was a couple upstairs 'making the earth move'.

On the news this morning, someone said that it was felt as far as Asterdam. How the hell did they feel it in Holland and I felt nothing in Edinburgh?

I feel I should write to my MSP about this!

*has a gigglefit*

They'll use it in their campaigning - "Only the SNP can protect this country from England's natural disasters!"

The epicentre was only about 15 miles away from my housemate Lewis's parents' house. They're fine, and very glad their house is modern and didn't end up with the structural damage that older nearby buildings suffered.

Needless to say, we didn't feel it down in Kent! I'm still an earthquake virgin, as I slept through the mild Kentish tremor we had late last year.

Hey,
yea were all ok although. Was very confused last night - i was half asleep when it happened for some reason, 1st thought it was just strong wind, coz my window was open, went to close it and it didnt stop shaking.
But it felt really strong and felt like it lasted for half a min or so, but no-one that i know got hurt so all is ok:)

I was about 15 miles from the epicenter it wasn't that scary for me. But then i'd only been a sleep for an hour and woke up as the first lil tremmors hit and i thought it was a helecopter then decided it was an earth quake and went back to sleep, hoping that i would be able to sleep with out books falling on my head.
