Ok, [livejournal.com profile] ollyb linked to this, I'd signe up already (there was an auto sign up on Write to them), but, well, it's a great idea and while the two neighbouring constituencies are half way there already, Torbay has only got 3 people so far.

Wait, a thought occurs; the last two times I emailed Adrian, I got a reply within 12 hours. It's still a good idea, even if our MP is pretty good at keeping in touch. I'll pimp it out there anyway. Go sign up regardless.

Oh yeah, question regarding [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes

[livejournal.com profile] nadriel got annoyed today because I meta'd a public post from [livejournal.com profile] mapp. I reckon he's just annoyed because I beat him to it, not because I didn't ask. Y'see, I don't think I should.

  1. It's a public post, therefore open to all and sundry, including BlogSearch, Technorati and 'find random user'.

  2. Blog etiquette is to quote whoever you like, but always credit and link.

  3. The community rules state "# No quoting from locked/private entries sans permission. This is a bannable offense."

  4. I'm an evil nasty bastard, and if I want to inflict comment spam on you when you're funny, I will.

Meh, I open it to the floor anyway...

I picked "yes", not because I really think it should be a requirement, but because it seems more polite than "no" and the third option is totally not me.

I say "no" but, umm, there's nothing more amusing than randomly seeing yourself on MQ. It's kind of funny. In fact, it's very funny. In fact, it's like being a geek celebrity.

I say a public post is fair game, but it's a good idea to at least tell the person they're about to be exposed to a huge audience. And link to the post, not the journal, even if it is FO, so folks don't have to search for it.

You've never heard of me? Ah, it was the movies that got small.

Hmmm... speaking of which, that post seems like you're comment whoring. I'm guessing you're not, so I'm going to leave it, but I gotta say, that was not one of your better quotes.

Thanks. Take a power nap- 15-20 minutes always makes me feel like a new woman. Which may not be exactly what you're going for, but close enough...

"I think Mat should take a power nap because if it makes him feel like a new woman, it'll be funny."

-- Mark, who is still a little drunk. Though rather endearing at the same time. He really needs to stop apologising though. *sticks her tongue out at Mark who is about 2cm away*

"Freddie, I've had enough new women recently, can I just go back to hiding in my room single again?"

No.

I didn't vote because the poll didn't let me, it shows as if I had already voted - but if anyone ever metaquotes me I'd like to be told because otherwise I wouldn't necessarily know.

Doesn't matter to me- I'm unlikely to ever say anything amusing enough to be quoted.

It's a public post. If folks don't want to be read, they can lock the post.

Got here via metaquotes. Or rather via friends surfing a friend of a friend who unlike me has metaquotes on her watch list.

Thing about the quote that apparently started it - that was an invite to a LARP, including a map to someone's house. True, a public post, and you know the poster and I do not, but it's one thing to put a public post to a known audience of X and an unknown number of random passersby, and quite another for that public invitation and map to be pointed out to another couple thousand people.

Saying that, mayhap the map should be in a locked post.

Cool.
I never seem to say anything metaquotes worthy. Ah, well.
