Unfortunately, I can't break my writers block. I need the inaugaral "real" article for voting_taktix, but it won't flow. "Tactical voting is a myth", on a site dedicated to tactical voting? Yay for contradictions.

That isn't, of course, why I'm unique. The real problem is that my LJ layout issue is the only reported case, and the designer is helping me with it. It does appear that it's not any of my code though. I need to copy out the CSS from the entire template, turn off all the LJ provided CSS and insert it all into the custom box myself. After removing some of the stuff they put there. That may solve the problem. Tomorrow, right now, I'm listening to David Profumo's book about his father's affair on Radio 4. I love Book of the Week, it's really cool.

Tomorrow? Exeter, if I get up, to play silly game's at Steve's with Peter Pig. If I wake up. Oh, I also need to clean and tidy the flat, as it'll be the last chance between now and when I get back from nadriel's. Two weeks holiday in one month? Yay! Must remember to buy tickets for those events.

Also, on the quiz thing? A few of the questions are US specific. Sorry, but knowing which Amendment does not isn't a History question, it's a Constitutional Theory and practice Q. I mean, I got that answer right anyway, but, y'know, I would've got a better score if the questions weren't aimed at one populace. Cos I is ded smart, see?

Also note that it compares to my age and gender, so, given the Daily Mail managed to "prove" this week that men are smarter, it's because I've got more competition.

Because I believe everything in the Daily Mail, and definately don't think a 4% difference in IQ is within the margin of error anyway...

Well, as it happens I know because my friends page style tells me. But I also know how to work it out anyway. This entry is 129014.html. Take the numerical part of that (129014) and divide it by 256, then chuck out the remainder. That gives you 253. The number in the URL is generated by:

N = 256E + R

where N is the number in the URL, E is the number of the entry, and R is a random integer from 0 to 255.

As you said, LJ-fu.

And I'm afraid I'm going to have to correct you on the way OKCupid works as well. There are two separate sets of values given. The first, "You are 78% knowledgable and 96% intellectual", is a raw score; only the second percentile score, "You scored higher than 99% on knowledge", is based on comparisons of age and gender.

It does? Can't see it on the public display, but I'm probably looking in the wrong place. Still, that maths is interesting, knew it had to be something related to post number, but the details weren't something I'd looked up.

As for slipping? Yes, it's late, and I'm getting old. Plus, I've just realised I've done my usual, and not actually eaten since I got home. D'oh!

How odd. A little bit of fiddling about and apparently I had things set up so that it only showed that to me and not to anyone else. Have changed that now, and it should be displaying for all the world to see if you want to take a look at it.

And as for not eating, I definitely sympathise. I have "oops, I've forgotten to eat" moments far too regularly.

I've given up on coding my own layout, it's not worth it. Assuming they can fix/locate this Expressive problem, it's rather good.

When the fis is there, i'll resort the rest out, the columns are overlapping currently as well :-(

That age and gender thing... Whenever I have done a quiz on Cupid or whatever it is called, it gives the same statistics: always 99% better than everyone else. I think it is a bug, myself.
