London, Life and Layout woes...

I love my LJ layout. I like the colour scheme, I like the friends page, I like the 3-column view, the tag cloud.

Unfortunately, it handles very long threaded conversations incredibly badly. On the one hand, comments=good, we like comments. On the other, a large chunk of text crammed into a comment an inch wide is just silly.

Gah! I can always append ?format=light, but that disappears after a comment is made, so you get the narrow column again. Ah well, back to a redesign of some sort I guess :-(

Maybe later. Much later. Maybe I'll just export everything earlier than planned. Oh, I dunno. My flat appointment for tonight got bumped to tomorrow, so I've got nowt to do, Mike's at a leaving do. Hmm, broadband. YouTube. I'll watch YouTube. And maybe some of ginasketch's stuff.

Making the indent less pronounced is one option.

hoiho uses a style where the indent seems less pronounced, and it comes from the right-hand side instead. Might be useful.

I've never liked the indent on the right, always confuses me. But a smaller indent and instead change the background colours would work.

What I'd actually quite like is something that looks like a threaded Usenet reader. Parent comment has little threads coming out of it to its children, with a fairly narrow indent. There might be a way of doing that, if I put my CSS noodle noddle head on.

Of no use to you though, I'm just bored and trying to avoid doing work.

What I will need soon is something for the worpress threaded comments plugin, it's ok, but not great, and yes, that sort of thing would be good.

Oh, wonder if Audra could do some Ajaxy stuff to make threads pop open and close? That's be interesting...

Arse. The embed is 35px harcoded in the S2 source, it's not classed. Which is weird, because the point of Expressive is it's so well marked up.

How long are you up in London for? i.e. could you make it to the Devonshire Arms in Camden on saturday evening (say, 8pm: Before I go out to slimelight)

I'm hopefully up fairly permanently. Not sure yet whether to go to Dev/Slimes, or go out to rEading for DropZone, which is monthly and I lose my crash space in Reading before the next one.

So probably not this Saturday evening, but daytime and/or another time, yes, as I want to try Slimes at least once.

Sorry I'd love to - but!!! - tomorrow is going to be hell at work (just , as in three mintues ago, put a document to bed with final tidy up to do tomorrow). Saturday, I'm putting some large erections in my back garden for the purpose of radio communication!
