Annoyances, webhosts and shopping

Site update, I said I'd install WP-MU but my webhost doesn't support the software, it'll run WP but MU needs more resources--I'd need to open a support request with them and even then it's not guaranteed they'll make the necessary changes, it involves more than a few redirects :-( So back to plan A, indivdual installs per person, bloody annoying, was hoping for a universal login, but, well, it'll do.

Instead, tomorrow I might, if I can get the impetus together, go to the CARNAVAL DEL PUEBLO in Southwark. Or drag myself up north for the Innocent fete. Anyone else made a firm decision either way, and/or interested in either?

Today, apart from playing with webhosting stuff, updating all the old Blogger stuff I was using and moving it, I've also been shopping. I mentioned I was looking at mice, well, on a whim I went into Maplin, and ended up with a wireless mouse & keyboard combo, so I can type from anywhere in the room now, which is nice. I also, just might, have bought 6 books in Waterstones (and no, 'm not going to look at how cheap they would've been on Amazon)-I went in for the Fforde, and bought a whole lot more, bloody 3-for-2 offers. Oh, I might have bought about 6 months supply of Lush stuff, and encountered my first example of a bad shop assistant in there.

And I ate a whole Lyle's Golden Syrup cake. For breakfast. Healthy eating plan? Yeah, right...

I was such a geek last night. On a saturday night, when I could have been out doing all manner of things, I installed bblog on my webserver. I was so chuffed when it worked!

I'm now going to try to install WP - just to see if I can!

It all started because I noticed that my hosting people were offering MySql for no extra cost...

I just wish they would upgrade SharePoint to 2007...

my word. WordPress is very very easy to install.
I used to be in awe of people who hosted their own blogs! Now I'm one of them haha.
Admittedly, I don't know how to check if this is MU or not..

It mioght be that the basic one is better anyway, MU was an idea I had, not necessarily one I want to go with, I wanted to try it.

I'm already using the basic one in a few places, and it's good. Worth a try though.

i just need to work out how on earth to remove the mu version from my webserver now, as i've got cgi-bin errors.

i take it's just a case of removing the database and removing the wpmu folder?

I *should* be. Bear in mind I've not tried.

WP is easy to remove, but WPMU is beyond my ken. But WP should be enough for most purposes, so I'm consoling myself with what I can do not what I can't...

Heck, download the LJ packages and install _that_!

You have to own the entire server in order to do that. No hosting company is running that version of Apache for its shared hosting plans, that I'm aware of.
