They're, um, a bit touchy these Chinese martial artists n'est ce pas?
The moral of this tale? Do not be insulting the good name of Kung Fu, for they're watching your anonymous posts on obscure internet forums and may get all legal on your arse...

Date: 2007-Sep-02, Sunday 08:06 (UTC)For us it might be just something we see in "chop-socky" films, but China has several centuries of tradition tied up with it and it hepled protect their peasants from frequent invasions in the past.
It's a very important component of Chinese culture - most Chinese folk heroes are Kung-Fu masters (although the term "Kung Fu" itself is a fairly recent invention - Wushu is probably more accurate )so they tend to be a bit sensitive about it, hence this Shaolin vs Ninja business.
