Q:If there's a fault forcing diversion of all trains, do you tell drivers before they set out or AFTER you divert their train? :-(

What the heck is a "fault forcing diversion?"

Of course, just because you asked means the answer was "after."

Stupid gits. There should always be a name and phone number of the person responsible for things like this so that we can properly vent.

Generally it's that people have stolen the cables for the train signals. It happens a lot.

It's touch and go whether he'll actually get here tonight, now.

I'm just hoping the timetable info I got them to text you is accurate... That's the last train I sent you details of. The next one is 6 something AM.

By and large the rail company will try and taxi/coach you back (before claiming it back from wherever)

Suspect this is the same kind of honest communication that brings you "on time" on the platform displays when it is five minutes past due and there is obviously another train blocking the platform.

The answer depends on whether you're a responsible company or merely one responsible for the quick and easy transportation of thousands of people at the lowest cost possible.

On that rationale, I'll pick B every time...

I was just about to comment that you can always pitch for a cab in circustances like these; then I saw the next entry. I got Virgin to pay for a cab to take me from Bristol to Nottingham once.
