Lunatic petitioners
2008-Jan-13, Sunday 14:10K, my post earlier about petitions prompted Jennie to do one of her irregular petitions expiring soon round-ups so I couldn't resist the temptation to have a look at the rejected petitions list because, given some of those that have got through, the rejections must be comedy gold. So we have Petition to: Relocate the Nelson Mandela statue to where it belongs. which has the following notice:
This petition has been rejected because:which prompted the creator to edit it to say:
* It contained language which is offensive, intemperate, or provocative
More details from petition creatorSomeone ought to tell this bloke that shouting and phrases such as"political correctness gone mad" are way within an acceptable definition of "intemperate", n'est ce pas?
South Africa... Stautes in London should be reserved for British heroes and heroines. TO REJECT THIS PETITION AFTER IT HAD ALREADY BEEN PUBLISHED AND GAINED 133 SIGNATORIES IS NOTHING MORE THAN POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE MAD AND DEFINITELY UNDEMOCRATIC.

But yeah, the petitions are very random. Sometimes great, sometimes bloody stupid. Isn't politics wonderful?
