I have another poll. [livejournal.com profile] pickwick has more on the choice
[Poll #1324685]
And [livejournal.com profile] whouk has doe a different bio Matt Smith is Doctor Who

Still, in no way can he be described as a Pretty Boy, right?

I'm simply not invested enough in the series to really have a strong feeling either way. I like that I don't know him and haven't seen his previous stuff. I have no expectations. If he can act and the new team can write it will be fine.

His age is a stupid argument. Possibly I would have preferred someone older, but when the character is 900+ what does a decade here or there under 50 matter?

It may have been long and drawn out, which I would have found annoying without Twitter and live blogging the event.

Yes, I can see what you mean about authority and gravitas. I'm putting quite a lot of trust in Moffman to not go down the teen-romance avenue, too.

Plus having an older actor makes the scenes where the Doctor is offering people jelly-babies and the like seem like your conspiratorial uncle who buys you drum kits and suchlike. When it comes from a 25-year old its feels totally different.

I haven't (consciously) seen anything he's been in so I reserve judgement until I've seen a couple of episodes.

I'm not sure on the first questions - do you mean 'were the programmes good or bad' or 'was he good or bad in them'? I watched one episode of Party Animals and thought it was terrible...

Frankly, I'm pretty underwhelmed by the decision - he's not stood out in anything I've seen him in and I think he looks like Frankenstein's monster... (My flatmate's response was 'ewww, no'...)

I think he looks like Frankenstein's monster.

Oh thank god, I'm not the only one that thinks that!

Scientific evidence can now be found on my LJ. Though please note, I trust in the Moffat. I just find this chap's appearance comical.

Good to know. Some people get really uptight about it so I usually say something just in case.

Has the Doctor ever been attractive?
I haven't seen anything he's been in but he looks interesting and he could give the whole thing a completely different spin if he can act and they give him a new variation. Both 9 and 10 and have been rather cheery types, he might be able to be something else. Let's hope it's not Emo, though.

Would have far preferred Liam Neeson. Sigh. Of course, I'd prefer him in . . .

Sorry, lost my train of thought. Ah well.

Not sure about that, everyhing i've seen Neeson in recently has been rather disappointing.
