The Lords (redux)

The Lords Reform Day thing went rather well, and I got a link; feels a bit strange to be amongst such august company. Still, there were some damn fine articles written, and some great ideas.

Blood and Treasure explains the lottery appointments system better than I could, and I pretty much agree with the principle. However, I'm persuaded to not go for it 100% (always was really), Nosemonkey puts a pretty strong case for a degree of appointmented members; I like the idea of a revision chamber containing experts from their field.

So, the reformers are splitting into two camps, those who want an elected senate, and those who want a decent, non-partizan revision chamber. I've been in the latter camp for about ten years, nice to know I'm not alone.

Boredom leads to LJ fiddling

Well, I was bored, ran out of things to browse, read every news story that looked interesting, used my first ever Slashdot mod points, so decided to play around with my LJ settings.

Can people say if they have problems with it and if so which browser they use? It's an error in an LJ approved layout, so I'll need to harass them to fix it, but it would be good to know; alternately, it might just be my crappy PC acting up.

Got a little carried away...

I, um, got a paid account. No idea why I felt I needed one, but, well, it does mean my comments page look like the rest od the them, and I can play around with some other settings. The things you do when you're bored.

OTOH, $25 for a year is about the same as a good book, I buy 4-5 of them a month, so given the fun I have pratting around on here...

Expect a few polls in the near future, only because, well, I want to find out how they work.
